Weaving // DOBBY
The dobby samples are created through drafting, both by hand and on the computer. This creates a new understanding woven structures in a three-dimensional way through generating new structures for patterns.
Inspiration:
Venice, Italy: Carnival
I visited Venice in during my high school junior year abroad with two of my fellow exchange students.
Our adventure coincided with Carnival, an annual festival renown for its colorful masks and elaborate costumes. The whole city transformed into a saturated jamboree—a vivid image that remains with me to this day.
I programmed my dobby files via WeavePoint and incorporated unconventional material to emulate the whimsical celebration.
